About MeMy name is Darian Dubie and I am a senior. I am a very visual learner. I am focused on learning more about health care. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to work in the medical field.

I went to Medquest at Johnson State College the summer of my sophomore year. It was a week residency camp where we were immersed in everything related to healthcare. We visited 4 different hospitals and had many hands on experiences both at the hospitals and on the college campus. We learned proper suturing techniques, earned our CPR/AED certification and met many professionals in the field. A highlight for me was shadowing a Physical Therapist assistant who was amazing, it was a hands on and interactive experience where I was communicating with patients. This is where my passion for Physical Therapy started. The next summer I applied to Advanced Medquest on the University of Vermont campus. There were only 14 participants and we stayed on campus. We were able to shadow at UVM Medical Center and did a lot in those 5 days. We got to watch a live surgery through video chat and work in the simulation lab. We learned how to properly prepare a sterile environment. Both programs have mentors who are UVM Medical students which enriches the program and you can ask them anything. I recommend this experience to someone interested in the medical field and/or passionate about helping improve the live of the people in our community.
